Panca Abimata: A Collection of Queer Prayers

Illustrated Zine
Page 1
Panca Abimata contains five stories, five collages, and five prayers. The title ""Panca Abimata"" is taken from Old Sundanese, meaning five hopes. The stories, collages, and prayers in this zine are drawn from the everyday experiences of queer individuals in Indonesia. Panca Abimata is an effort to reclaim religious and spiritual spaces for queer people, starting with the creation of prayers (ways to connect with God, the universe, or any higher being) that embrace queer experiences within them. Panca Abimata is funded by the ASEAN SOGIE Caucus as part of the South East Asia Queer Culture Festival 2024. This zine can only be printed and displayed with permission from Panggung Minoritas and the ASEAN Sogie Caucus."

Panggung Minoritas

Indonesia

Panggung Minoritas is a community-based alternative learning space in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It was initiated by five people from diverse backgrounds who had the same need: to create a safe space for minorities to meet each other, share their stories, and express themselves freely without any discrimination. Since July 2018, we have always undertaken monthly discussions/workshops with different themes related to topics about queer and diversity.

Panggung Minoritas also has been active in accommodating the community members to create collaborative zines which can be categorized into two types: yearly zines (Warta Sawargi) and incidental zines (collage zines)
